Invest in Yourself

There is an important part to your journey to success and fulfilling your BIG DREAMS, and that is investing in yourself.

You need to learn, and keep learning.

Feed your mind and get an appetite for learning, and never stop.

Read and listen to audio of people who inspire you.

Learn from people who have achieved what you want to achieve.

Learn to become an expert in the field that you have chosen.

If you haven’t found your field yet, read about others that have found theirs and how they did it.

Use all the resources that are available to you.

If your finances don’t allow you to buy books go to your local library – they need your support and we don’t want to lose this vital resource.

You can now rent books online through a lot of the online book stores.

However you can do it, LEARN.

As “what you feed your mind determines your appetite.”

And the best thing you can do for yourself is to INVEST IN YOURSELF.

Believing In Yourself

by ,

imagesDQG14KQHIf you’re going to change your life, you’re going to have to believe in yourself, which is a good thing because it’s the first secret to your success.

You have to have a strong belief that you will be able to achieve whatever you are going to do, whatever your DREAM is.

Have you heard the expression, “you can do whatever you set your mind too.”  It’s totally true.

I’ve have proved to myself many times that if I set my mind to it, I can achieve it.  No matter how many people have told me I couldn’t or circumstances beyond my control.

None of these achievements have been easy, and have taken a lot of problem solving and time.  But I now know that I can do it.

I’m in the process of changing my life and there are a lot of challenges.  I know there will be moments of doubt, but I also know that I can overcome those doubts, move forward to accomplish the next step, and build on the small triumphs to realize the BIG DREAM.

And I believe YOU can do the same.

Build on the small successes to achieve your BIG DREAM.

Believe in yourself and you have achieved the first goal to your success.

Because, “BELIEVING in yourself is the first secret to SUCCESS.”

What Motivates You?

by ,

imagesI7VZ9QM0What is your motivation for your new life?

There are going to be many challenges along the way, and you have to have something that motivates you to get through those challenges.

Your dream has to be big enough to carry you through.

How do you make your dream big enough?

An example would be…

You want to leave your job and have more free time with your family.

This may be a huge life change, and you may not be able to see right now how you’re going to achieve it.

But to achieve this you are going to envision achieving this goal – as I talked about in a previous post “When a Dream Becomes a Goal.”

The question then becomes, what’s going to keep you motivated after you have achieved leaving your job and having more time with your family?

Your answer may be something like, “I would then help family members do the same.”

But after you’ve helped your family members, then what?

This is an example on how you push your dreams to another level.  Keep pushing forward until you get to your core purpose for changing your life.

Then leaving your job, helping family members etc., become goals/milestones toward achieving your core purpose.

It is that core purpose that is going to carry you through all the challenges along the way.

It is that core purpose that is going to give you a life that you never thought possible.

It is that core purpose that really is what motivates you.

It is that core purpose that allows you to DREAM BIG.

When a Dream Becomes a Goal

by ,

ddad9__8724484836_0b61920d88_z[1]You have a dream, and you’ve made a choice to make it a reality.  But you’re having trouble finding the steps to actually get you there.

The problem can be because we are taught to get from point A to point B.  From where we are now to where we want to be.

This can create a stumbling block when we don’t know how we are going to get there.

One easy solution is to work backwards.  Work from your dream back to where you are now.

However, the first thing you have to have is a clear destination.

To have a clear destination you need to write down your dream as though it has already happened.

Envision yourself in that moment when the dream has been achieved.

Be as descriptive as you can, so that if you read it back to someone they would get a clear picture of where you are, what you are doing, and what you’ve accomplished.  Use all of your five senses when describing that moment.

When you have finished give your dream a deadline.  Don’t set a deadline too soon or too far away – around three months is good.

After you’ve have a clear intention then you write down all the steps that you took to get you to that outcome.  Write at least fifty steps.  You’ll be surprised what you come up with.

Once you have the 50 steps pick out one or two and take ACTION.

You have to take action because, “A dream becomes a goal when action is taken toward its achievement.”

When the Going Gets Tough

by ,

tumblr_lzwi5inNNY1qfb9z9o1_400[1]What does “When the going gets tough, let the tough get going,” really mean.

I have always joked that I am tough, but in reality I have always seen myself as a survivor.  Meaning that whatever challenges life has thrown in my direction I have managed to survive.

It wasn’t until I was talking to a friend that the true meaning of the above saying came clear to me.

My friend was going through a similar life changing challenge that I had gone through the previous year.

I was explaining to her my perspective on what had happened to me, and how I had handled the challenge.  In other words I was explaining how I had survived, and how I was still surviving.

She turned to me and said, “How are you so tough?”

I stopped in my tracks for a second.  I really hadn’t realized what I called surviving could be seen by somebody else as being tough. To me I was just doing what had to be done.

Here is how I perceive the meaning behind the saying, “When the going gets tough, let the tough get going.”

When life throws you a challenge and the going gets tough, you get going doing what you need to do.  In that process you become tough.

You really don’t know how tough you really are.

It took a friend to point it out to me.

How you deal with a challenge is to make decisions and keep moving forward.

With each challenge that you put behind you, you become more confident to deal with the next.

Life is full of challenges, and “When the going gets tough, let the tough get going.”

Capturing Ideas for Your Blog

by ,

imagesVNEYD00JHow do you capture ideas for your blog?

Sometimes ideas just pop up at the most inconvenient times.

Writers have had this problem for years, and they have come up with a few solutions.

First and foremost you should always carry a notebook and pen/pencil with you at all times.  Some writers however, will use index cards or post-it notes while they are out and about.

If you have a smart phone you can use that to capture an idea, either by text or emailing yourself.

Keep a notebook and pen on your bedside table.  Just in case you wake during the night.  Though I must warn you, you may not be able to read what you’ve written the next morning.

The reason why you should always have something with you to capture an idea is because you just cannot rely on remembering it later.

And an idea forgotten is an idea lost.

There is also another good reason for capturing all these ideas.

You can use them for when the dreaded writers block turns up, and get over that hump a lot easier.

There is another thing I do to take advantage of when my creativity is flowing.

Quite often I find when I’m drafting a blog another idea will turn up, so I’ll make note of it there and then.

After finishing the blog that I was writing I will immediately draft the other blog idea.

I will draft blogs until I either run out of time or the ideas stop.

This way I will have several blogs ready to post.  Having these blogs helps with creativity dry spells, the stress of having to write on those extra busy days, and when something unexpected turns up.

Write your ideas down when they arrive, take advantage when creativity is flowing, and have several bogs ready to post.

Don’t miss an IDEA.

You never know when your MILLION DOLLAR IDEA will show up.

Fear of Mistakes

by ,

the-man-who-is-incapable-of-making-a-mistake[1]Why are we so afraid of making mistakes?

It’s the way us humans learn.

As kids we learn by our mistakes.

You only have to watch a baby learn how to walk to realize that.

The baby will get up, take a couple of steps, fall down, only to get back up and try again.

Have you ever heard the expression, “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, try again.”

It is said that it took Edison 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at making the light bulb.  We could still be using candles if he had given up after the first try.

So why as adults do we avoid trying something new just because we may not get it right the first time?

We are afraid of something.

What is it that stopping you from moving forward?

If it’s the fear of making a mistake, then look at mistakes as learning experiences.

Then take the bull by the horns, and go for it, and move forward.

All successful people have taken the chance of making a mistake, whether they are an artist, an author, an inventor, or a President.

Become one of the elite, take the chance, and go for what you want.

Become successful.

Because you don’t want to be the one who is incapable of anything.

You want to be the one who can make ANYTHING HAPPEN.

Dare to Follow Your Dreams

by ,

1559599_10152285083477381_1318682923_n[1]As children we are encouraged to dream.  We are told that we can be whatever we want to be.

So what happened?

As we got older slowly piece by piece our dreams were taken away.

We are told that those dreams are what we had as a kid.  That those dreams have no place in the adult world, and slowly but surely our dreams fade away until all that we are left with are daydreams.

But not so fast!

Reawaken the child within!

Who says we can’t follow our dreams!

Those people who have given up on their own dreams.

Do you really want to follow someone who has already given up?

Someone who I’m sure isn’t really happy with their own life.

Hell no!!!

It’s time to figure out what you want.  What kind of life you want to live.  It’s time to get working on those Dreams.

I know I haven’t struggled all these years to follow my dreams just to give up now.

I know I will fulfil my dreams, and add a few extra for good measure.

So what are you waiting for?

DREAM Big.

Take ACTION.

And “Be amongst the few who DARE to follow their DREAMS.”

What’s Your Passion?

by ,

WhatsYourPassion-RCC-landpage[1]

What are you passionate about?

What interests you?

What hobbies do you have?

Are there causes that you support?

What’s your passion?

No matter what your interest is, if you have spent any amount of time doing something you are passionate about, you have a wealth of information that you can use for your blog.

You can even blog about your town.

One Tuesday evening I was out with a friend in my local town.  We had gone for dinner and decided to stroll down the walking mall.

My friend started to point out historical points of interest that she had learnt about after taking a tour.

I asked her if she had seen the cannon ball in the wall.  She said she hadn’t, and we headed to the wall.

10393545_10204353277531441_9010648002294324463_n[1]

The cannon ball is a little bit off the beaten path, and she was thrilled to find another hidden piece of history.

As we carried on our walk she pointed out a couple of other places that she had seen on the tour.

The tour had sparked an interest in the history of the town, and now she was exited to tell me what she had discovered.

Guess what she could now blog about?

Blog posts are everywhere; you just have to find them.  Just like the cannon ball.

Start with your interests, and what you’re passionate about.

Try new things.

And see what you will find.
